Barbara Steel is the Performance Practice Lead and Senior Consultant at the Neuroleadership Institute. Ms. Steel’s career has been dedicated to human resources and talent management for over 25 years. She is a published author and co-wrote the best-selling business book, How to Be Exceptional: Drive Leadership Success by Magnifying Your Strengths. She built a reputation for her expertise and experience having performed in key executive talent roles before becoming a leading consultant focused on helping organizations with their HR and talent strategies. Her client engagements have enabled her to work with some of the world’s leading organizations representing the following industries and markets: financial, technology, telecommunications, manufacturing, oil and gas, government contracting, professional services, and retail.
Within the consulting group, Ms. Steel heads the Performance Practice and is responsible for leading key client engagements by collaborating with organizations on their strategic initiatives which impact performance and culture transformation, leader and employee behavior change, and overall business performance. Ms. Steel is a highly sought-after speaker known for her engaging, dynamic style and speaks regularly about NLI’s leading-edge research at various organizations and international conferences.
Ms. Steel is a perpetual learner and is currently pursuing her doctorate degree at Benedictine University where she holds an A.B.D. in Values-Driven Leadership. She received her MBA in Organizational Behavior and Marketing from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a BBA in Management Science from the Loyola University of Chicago.
